Flash Animation Program and Workshop

There are a number of ways to present information. Somewhere between using static graphics and expensive video is the little used technique of animation. Animation requires little or no knowledge of fine art and almost no programming skill; coupled with the relative accessibility of modern animation tools like Flash make it an excellent solution in the hands of a skilled instructional designer.
Animations can describe change or present the concept of time quite easily without taking up multiple pages of media. Developers can also reduce the amount of text needed and nearly eliminate the need for all the standard circles, arrows, callouts, and lines.
Animations are not just useful for understanding real-world “things” like parts and pieces. Animation can be used in place of the standard page turner type instruction where concepts and rules are the objectives of the learning.
Learn to use Adobe Flash to build short animations - creating memorable experiences for more engaged learners. In this session you will learn to use Flash to turn bitmaps into vectors, draw your own vectors, and use layers to produce complex graphics. Finally, you will use movie clips, keyframes, the timeline, and tweening to produce animations. No coding required! (almost)
Let's meet the Speaker/Presenter:
David Kipling is in his 15th year of designing online instruction using tools like Flash and Captivate. He has created learning solutions for Clarkson College, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, The Peter Kiewit Institute, The Nebraska Medical Center, eBay, and now Union Pacific Railroad.
