Make It Work for Lincoln

The Knowledge Management Council was formed by ASTD-Lincoln with a purpose to identify the shortfalls in training and education in Lincoln, Nebraska and surrounding areas to re-align offerings of in-house training, on-the-job training, institutional training, and to better serve the needs of business and industry.

Please join our guest speaker Mayor Chris Beutler, meet the ASTD-Lincoln, Knowledge Management Council as they discuss how this initiative got its start, what it has accomplished, where it is going, and what is needed from you.

Lincoln is teeming with excellent resources, but many are “best-kept secrets” and not readily visible to individuals and employers. Lincoln needs alignment of people, businesses, and resources to compete in the race to attract new and expanded commerce. An ongoing network will be established to facilitate communication among workers, employers, education and training providers, to ensure these needs, as they change, will be met as we move into the future.

While we Nebraskans take pride in our rigorous work ethic, we must support it with the tangible and practical skills sought by a rapidly evolving economy. Not only can we provide employers with a higher level of technical skills, but we can also attract new business into our city. This will provide more reasons for our college graduates to remain in Lincoln. Businesses will prosper, individuals and families can enjoy a higher standard of living, and Lincoln will benefit overall from a broader and deeper tax base. This is our plan to . . .
