Tom Kuhlmann's back for two exciting workshops!

ASTD-Lincoln and Southeast Community College again welcome Tom Kuhlmann to Lincoln June 11 & 12!

The workshops will be led by Tom Kuhlmann, nationally known speaker and popular Rapid E-Learning blogger. Those who attended Tom’s last sold-out workshop in Lincoln left with a wealth of resources. Space is once again limited, so register early. You won’t want to miss this opportunity!

PowerPoint’s No Longer a Slide Show Freak

Wednesday, June 11

You can do a search online and find all sorts of whining and complaining about how PowerPoint is lame.  Know what? They’re all wrong.  Not only is PowerPoint not lame, it’s probably one of the most versatile and exciting applications out there.  The problem is that many people just don’t know how to access all of the PowerPoint goodness.

Regardless of whether you’re involved with E-Learning, instructor-led training, presentations or other learning situations, Tom’s session will introduce all sorts of ways to use PowerPoint so you can become a PowerPoint superstar with the ability to dazzle your co-workers, family, and possibly entertain guests at your next party. In addition, he’ll provide access to all sorts of free resources.

Bring your laptop and learn all sorts of ways to get more out of PowerPoint.

Requirements: Participants will need a computer/laptop and PowerPoint installed (PowerPoint 2010 is preferred, but not required).

Can’t bring your laptop? A limited supply will be available for use during the workshop. **

Getting Started with Articulate Studio ‘13

Thursday, June 12

Today’s tools are making it easier than ever to build E-Learning courses because they don’t require any programming. This presents a lot of opportunities, but the reality is that there are also many challenges. On top of that, quite a few E-Learning developers work with limited budgets and resources. Is it possible to build good courses with these constraints?

Articulate Studio ’13 is the rapid E-Learning suite that lets you leverage PowerPoint’s easy authoring to create compelling E-Learning courses. Use Quizmaker and Engage to augment what you’ve built and you’ll have an interactive E-Learning course. Come see what’s new in Studio ’13 and learn how to build interactive courses with no programming required.

  • Learn to build content in PowerPoint and output as an interactive E-Learning course.
  • Get rid of that blocky quiz look and create engaging quizzes in Quizmaker.
  • Create drag-and-drop interactions with no programming needed.
  • Practice using the 20 new Engage interactions to quickly build exploration and user-driven modules.
  • Learn how to customize the player and publish in Flash, HTML5, or iOS.

Required Technologies and Prework

Since this is a hands-on session, a laptop is strongly recommended so that you can use Articulate Studio ’13 and actively practice the skills during the session. If you just want to observe, you are more than welcome to not participate in the hands-on activities.

If you do not currently own a copy of Articulate, download and install the 30-day free trial prior to the session. It is fully functional. We will provide instructions later on how to do this.  If you own an iPad, bring it along so you can test your new creations on the iPad and wow your friends and family. You can view the mobile output on an iPad but you'll need a laptop to practice using Studio.

Please be sure to bring extra batteries or power cords so you can use your technologies all day.

Can’t bring your laptop? A limited supply will be available for use during the workshop.**

** Contact Marguerite Himmelberg, mhimmelberg@southeast.edu, 402-323-3388 to reserve a laptop. A limited supply will be available on a "first-come" basis.
