Meet our December Member of the Month: Rachael Kimball!

Tell us about your experience in the Talent Development space including places you've worked, roles you've held, and organizations you're a part of. 

I have been with Access Bank for 12.5 years, with the first 10 years spent in branch operations serving in a variety of roles up to Branch Manager. Throughout this time, I developed extensive experience in leadership, sales, and team development while supporting Universal Bankers and Assistant Branch Managers.

In July 2023, I transitioned into my current role as Senior Retail Learning & Development Specialist. In this position, I specialize in designing and facilitating in-person training programs, developing internal partners, and creating learning resources that support performance and growth across the organization. I draw on my firsthand branch experience to provide practical, relevant training that helps Universal Bankers continue to develop their skills and advance within the company.

Most recently, our team has begun expanding into the development of e-learning content to further enhance learning opportunities. This is an exciting area of growth for me, as it introduces new tools and methods that I continue to explore and develop. I am especially interested in leveraging AI to support the creation of effective learning tools and resources that strengthen employee development and engagement.

What are some of your interests, strengths, and unique qualities that would help others get to know you better?

I take great pride in my ability to connect with others and genuinely understand the challenges people face in both professional and personal settings. Building meaningful relationships is at the heart of everything I do—people are truly my passion. I lead with empathy, compassion, and active listening, which allows me to create supportive, encouraging environments where individuals feel seen, valued, and empowered.

I enjoy learning from others and believe every interaction is an opportunity to grow, gain perspective, and strengthen connections. My goal is always to uplift those around me and to leave a positive, lasting impression through authenticity, kindness, and a commitment to helping others succeed.

What "work related" accomplishment(s) are you the most proud of?

I am most proud of starting in an entry-level position and consistently pursuing growth opportunities within my organization, allowing me to build a rewarding career through dedication and continuous development. I am also especially proud of designing and delivering a comprehensive in-person training course from concept to completion, seeing it successfully impact learning and development across the organization.

Are there specific people in the Talent Development space you follow and why?

Kathy Headley has been an incredible mentor, leader, and friend throughout my career. Her guidance has been instrumental in my growth across multiple roles—from my start as a Personal Banker, through Branch Manager, to my current position as a Learning & Development Specialist. Kathy has an exceptional ability to invest in others, developing skills with patience, encouragement, and genuine care. I have consistently watched her lead with purpose, passion, and an authentic desire to help those around her succeed. Her dedication and example have had a lasting impact on both my career and who I strive to be as a professional.

Do you have a lesson you’ve learned in your career you’d like to share with others?

Always embrace new challenges when they are presented. Even when a task feels difficult, overwhelming, or beyond your comfort zone, those moments are where real growth begins. By pushing past our boundaries, we continue to learn, develop, and strengthen our confidence and capabilities.
