Evaluating Training Program Success

Morning Session (8:30am - 12:00pm)

      Facilitator: Todd Conkright

Evaluation of training impact is often a neglected aspect of training programs, yet it is a critical piece of the ADDIE process, allowing us to determine what is working and whether changes are required to make training more effective. This session provides a framework for evaluating training, including return on investment and making a case for leadership support. You will learn what can and should be measured and how to create a meaningful set of metrics for your organization.

By the end of the morning session, attendees will be able to:

  • Explain why evaluation is important
  • Identify and choose outcomes to evaluate a training program
  • Discuss the process used to plan and implement a good training evaluation
  • Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of different evaluation designs
  • Choose the appropriate evaluation design based on the characteristics of the organization and the importance & purpose of the training
  • Conduct a cost-benefit analysis for a training program
  • Explain the role of workforce analytics and dashboards in determining the value of training practices

Application: Putting It All Together
