Here we are again—another new year! With it comes time for the incoming President’s message, my opportunity to share thoughts about the year ahead:
As I reflected on what I wanted to share in this message, I was filled with gratitude for those who came before me. I hope you don’t mind if I spend a little time reflecting on that.
The ATD Nebraska chapter has been in operation since 1959, and last year we celebrated a milestone—our 65th anniversary! It’s incredible to think about the longevity of this chapter. Over the past 65 years, we’ve experienced many changes, but one thing remains constant: our chapter exists because of the talented and dedicated individuals who volunteer their time and passion to foster excellence in talent development and workplace learning in our community.
Thank you all for paving the way and guiding us as future leaders of the chapter. I especially want to recognize our Past Presidents and those who continue to serve as mentors and advisors. On a personal note, I’m deeply grateful to those who have mentored and supported me—thank you. It goes without saying that our success is directly linked to your ongoing involvement and support.
2024 was a challenging year for many, both personally and professionally. With the effects of the declining job market, so many of us in the chapter—members and chapter leaders alike— began a journey to start over, start fresh, or start something new. We had to dig deep and ignite possibilities we never considered before. The resilience of our talent development community along with our deep connections showed up in full force as we supported and lifted one another.
Inspired by you, the ATD Nebraska Board of Directors has chosen “Lighting the Way to Excellence” as our theme for the year ahead and "Igniting Possibilities” for our 2025 Regional Conference theme. We will focus on providing programs that spark creativity, motivate growth, and empower you to discover and pursue new opportunities for learning, development, and success. As we venture into 2025, I am confident that we will emerge stronger and rejuvenated in our passion for all things talent development!
I can’t wait to see you all at the Winter Social on January 16th and to celebrate our 2024 Talent Development Award nominees and winners.
Thank you for your continued support of ATD Nebraska!
